Welcome.

Thanks for stopping by. Grab a cup of coffee and stay a while.

Be Still

Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” - Psalm 46:10,11

When someone is hurt, say a football player breaks a bone during a game, the first priority becomes stabilizing the injury. Keep them still, or it might get worse. Once they get to the doctor, no doubt they will continue to hear, “keep still!”

“Stay off that leg.”

“Keep that arm in a sling.”

Maybe they will have to lie perfectly still under sedation while a trusted surgeon goes to work to repair the wound.

If you have sustained a difficult injury, a broken heart or a crushed spirit, I would encourage you to breathe in Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Remain still. Quiet your spirit. Listen.

We’re great talkers, but our listening skills need work.

Sit in the pain trusting and knowing that God is sitting in this pain with you. Don’t run, and distract, and ignore. It will only get worse. Prioritize your healing, and make room for the still moments with God. He is faithful and good. His Word, spoken through the Bible, will never return void. His desire is to meet you exactly where you are and give you the strength to endure your pain, not alone, but with Him and with His body of believers who are the hands, feet, and heartbeat of Christ.

There are a lot of complex layers to the healing process, but thankfully, the first step is simple. Be still and know. Know that God has never left you or forsaken you. Know that He loves you. Know that He alone holds the future in His hands with sovereign grace, wisdom, provision, and protection.

This usually isn’t a quick fix, but rather a gentle exercise of endurance that builds character and faith. His strength in your weakness are just proverbial words until you reach a place where you are desperately dependent on Him to show up. He will show up.

In the still, quiet moments He will minister to you in the loudest of ways.

The battle may be wearing and the injuries painful. But with God, nothing is impossible. Nothing. Surrender your broken spirit and leave it in the hands of the great Healer. He will restore your soul.

And then we can exclaim together, “God, be exalted!”

May God be exalted in all the earth.

We’re in this together! Please don’t hesitate to reach out for any reason. I’m here, and so are many others.
